First post - Time to show off my stupidity

Confession: I'm a comments junkie. After every news article I read, I always have to check and see if there is a comments section so that I can add my two cents and help some poor sap see the world in a more enlightened light. Then I realized, comments are stupid. It seems that every comment thread I read turns in to a bashing contest of some sort or other where hot heads from the extremes of both issues bring up the most fantastic examples of how the other side's opinion is sure to lead to the destruction of our way of life, our liberty, the human race, or some other magnificent institution, like Taco Night Tuesday at Del Taco. I finally came to the crushing realization that I will never be able to hold an open and honest discussion on important issues through the comments section of some news site or other. This devastating blow turned in to the impetus I needed to finally join the other 40 bazillion overly opinionated slugs and enter the blogging world. So, now it is time to finally say all the comments I've been waiting to say. Time to let my stupid and over simplified observations run free!!

  1. That drives me crazy too! It turns in to an argument down in the comments section and then they start bringing up past articles and you realize...wait...you people know eachother...just from the comments section??? It's become a part of their daily lives to read the articles and argue in the comments. What a waste of your every day! (grammatically that makes no sense, but I just made sense of it!) I was finally over the comments section when I had two friends experience two seperate losses and the comments section of those turned in to bashing. Seriously, parents are grieving and they couldn't keep the comments from turning ugly.

But I admit...part of me enjoys reading the train wreck of most comment boards.
